Thank you for all committees and members for joined and supported our DRRO (Disaster Relief & Rescue Operation) Camp. Hope you all learn something and enjoy this camp.
The details of the camp are as followed:
Date: 29th, 30th and 31st Oct 2010
Venue: Hutan Lipur, Sungai Tua, Selangor
Participants: 50 VAD members, Chapter Committee & Ex- chapter committee
Throughout the camp, the participants who most are new members of Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) of MMU Cyberjaya Chapter were being exposed to the knowledge of disaster management and ways to response to disaster. The theoretical classes that have been conducted include:
1. Introduction to Disaster Relief and Rescue in Malaysia
2. Introduction to MKN 20/Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
3. Role of Malaysian Red Crescent in disaster (According to MKN)
4. Role of other bodies/agencies in disaster response
5. Disaster preparedness, response & management of Malaysian Red Crescent.
6. Mass cooking and food distribution
7. Techniques of Transportation, Communication
During the camp, members are having practical that how to response for the disaster. We have invited Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) to conduct some courses for us. They conducted lecture on MKN 20 and also did some demonstration on transfer casualty to cross the river. 3 Officers from SMART team, MKN remind us on some mistake we did when we are stay in red zone in the process of rescueing. We are motivated when officer of MKN giving some suggestion to us.
All works but no play, make Jake a dull boy. In order to learn through the camp, we also have some fun between it. Member enjoyed in the Halloween Night party which requires them to make up themselves into different costume. Besides, committee having a game that look like TV games show, the effect of this game quite good, members and committee are successful to bind together. A strong relationship between members was bonded through the activities. Feedback from international students saying that this is the best ever society he joined before.
