Help and Health Campaign 2013 /14

Event Name: Help and Health Campaign 2013/14

The launching ceremony was attended and officiated by Mr. Omarruddin Bin IbrahimSenior Manager of Student Affair Division (STAD) of Multimedia University. Also present in the ceremony was Mr. Mohd. Nawi Mat Nun, Manager of Student Affair Division (STAD) of Multimedia University.

        The launching ceremony was followed by booth visit with Mr. Omarruddin Bin Ibrahim and Mr. Mohd. Nawi Mat Nun. Mr. Omarruddin and Mr. Nawi took about 3 hours to take part in all the booths. They got much information from the visiting. Lunch was served after that.

          This is a 2-day in campus health awareness campaign. In campus, there are total of 11 events which are Blood Donation Drive (BDD), Organ Donation Campaign, CPR Awareness Campaign, Health Screening, Eye(New Mega Optic), Foot Massage,  Exhibition, hair scalp checking, Agym Fitness and Food Bazaar. We cooperated with National Blood Bank, National Kidney Foundation, National Cancer Society, Foot Reflexology, National Transplant, Focus Point (M) Sdn. Bhd, Perfect ENT Hearing, Malaysian Liver Foundation, Oral Division of Ministry of Health. 

          We also got the supported from Agym Fitness, Pe Pa Kao, Chatime Malaysia and Nestle Malaysia. We are really appreciated their sponsor. In addition, we sold Help and Health Campaign 2012 coupon which cost RM10 to students and staffs who wanted to do the medical Check-up and foot massage. 


Among the activities that organized in Help and Health Campaign are:
    1) Blood Donation Drive (BDD)
In this time, National Blood Bank not only doing blood donation, we requested them to exhibit some information on blood and blood donation. Therefore, community can learn and know more about blood donation.

           Throughout the 2-day Blood Donation Drive, the overall successful numbers of blood collected are only 400 packs. Details are as below:

     2) Organ Donation Campaign
National Transplant Resource Centre was invited to collaborate in this event. They come to open a booth and exhibit information about becoming organ donation pledge. Registration of becoming an organ donation pledge is also available at their booth.

Throughout the 2-day Organ Donation Campaign, there are only 80 organ donation pledges. Details are as below:
Day 1: 35 organ donation pledge
Day 2: 45 organ donation pledge


     3) Health Screening
This sub event is help MMU students and stuff to do the blood test which will test their blood pressure, heart function, lung function test, body composition analysis, body mass index, and glucose and cholesterol test.

Throughout the 2-day health screening campaign, there are only 250  people who participated and do the health screening. Details are as below:

4) Exhibition
It is mainly focused to improve health information among community through this sub-event. Work together with health sector to work in a health risk reduction by providing pre-impact evidence information such as the pre-symptoms of some common diseases. This is proposed to exhibit some baseline knowledge and information on common diseases such as AIDS, cancers, heart attack and etc.

Our exhibition was collaborated with the following societies: 

I) National Cancer Society
To ensure that no Malaysian fears cancer by creating an understanding of cancer that leads to prevention and early detection, and by providing the best possible care and support for those affected by cancer.


II) Oral Health Division from Ministry of Health
         The main objective of this exhibition is to improve the oral health status of MMU students through the provision of preventive, primitive, curative and rehabilitative dental services, with special emphasis given to identified priority groups in such a way that the oral health status of the university will continually be in conformity with the socio-economic progress of the country.
    · Formulation and development of policies related to the oral health of the population.
    · Management of oral health which includes planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluation  of oral healthcare.
    · Promotion of oral health to ensure continual improvement of the oral health population
    ·Enactment and enforcement of laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry


     III) Foot Reflexology
           The benefits of reflexology have to do with the reduction of stress. Because  the feet and hands help set the tension level for the rest of the body, they are an easy way to interrupt the stress signal and reset homeostasis, the body’s equilibrium. With foot reflexology, MMU students and staffs can have a better way to reduce their stress.

Throughout the two-day foot reflexology campaign, there are only 200 people who participated and do the foot reflexology. Details are as below:
Day 1: 85 people
Day 2: 115 people




     IV) Agym Fitness
Agym Fitness which is located at Cyberjaya receiving membership. Their main purpose is to encourage student to exercise at least twice a week. They also provide free T-shirt for those who registered and RM10 discount for all supplement.

Report: Emergency Response - Disaster Relief and Rescue Operation Camp 2013/2014


In this camp, we have total number of 40 participants including 15 committees had participated in this operation. Throughout the camp, the participant was being exposed to the knowledge of disaster management and ways to response to disaster.  There are few theoretical classes that had been conducted during this operation. That is
1.    Introduction to Standard Operation Procedure (SOP)
2.    Role of Malaysian Red Crescent in disaster (Mock Meeting Psychological and         Management). 
3.    Disaster preparedness, response and management of Malaysian Red Crescent.
4.    Mass cooking and food distribution.
5.    Introduction to communications skills.

Members from each VAD were having a chance for practical on mass cooking on the rotation basis. Members are divided into 2 groups. First group will be in charge of mass cooking on the first day while second group will be in charge of mass cocking on the second day. All participants were able to apply the knowledge with honour throughout this practical. 

There were difference simulation cases of disaster being conducted throughout this operation. The cases included car crush and tornado and landslide. The car crush and tornado case in conducted during day time while landslide is conducted during night time. The purpose of conducting simulation case at night is to examine the level of alert and consciousness of members.

In order to make this learning process more effective and joyful, there are some games and activities were conducted during this operation. Participants had divided into 3 new team. From the game of treasure hunt, a strong relationship between members was bonded.
